Hydro Track™
At OMPT Specialists, we make it a priority to provide our patients with the most advanced technology available. OMPT Specialists has recently become the only facility in Southeast Michigan to offer advanced water therapy with the Hydro Track™ Underwater Treadmill System.
Hydro therapy, also referred to as water rehabilitation or aqua therapy, has been proven to provide higher success rates and decrease recovery time compared to traditional land-based equipment or standard pool therapy. Hydro Track water therapy offers added resistance while providing the necessary low-impact yet relatively vigorous exercise to patients dealing with acute and chronic pain. OMPT Specialists works with each patient individually during their water rehabilitation to insure the best outcomes possible.

Testimonials
The Hydro Track water treadmill is GREAT!!! It truly helped me “learn” how to walk with my new hip resurfacing implant. The water supported my bad back and my new hip in such comfort that I was able to concentrate on my walking in a way that I had not been able to do on dry land. The water pressure and resistance and the viewing window gave my therapist the opportunity to more accurately see my muscles work in definition, to make suggestions for gait and adjustment and with my feedback to more precisely evaluate my status and progress.
After just two sessions I felt as if I might be able to put my cane away. That’s tremendous because that second session took place only one month and two weeks after my hip resurfacing surgery. I tell everyone I meet who has had hip surgery or know someone who has had hip surgery to come to OMPT Specialists to find an underwater treadmill to help them to recover.
I would recommend that anyone who is in therapy for their back, lower extremities and walking to discuss with their OMPT therapist the benefits they may gain from trying the underwater treadmill.

After coming off knee surgery to replace a completely torn ACL, the aqua therapy is a perfect form of physical therapy for me. Unlike walking on solid ground, I am able to walk for an unlimited amount of time without experiencing any pain or agitation whatsoever because of the extremely low impact my knee endures. Although I am unable to jog more than 20 to 30 feet without feeling pain outside or on a standard treadmill, I can job for 10 minutes comfortably on the Hydra Track. Considering the fact that the water is heated to 98 degrees, I feel like I’m getting a solid workout and strengthening my knee while taking a warm bath. I can honestly say that it’s probably the highlight of my week. I usually have to drag myself outside to go to the gym, but I truly look forward to coming here for therapy and the Hydra Track.

I was referred to OMPT Specialists for physical therapy on severe areas of pain that I have been having which prevent me from exercising, especially walking. Initially, I was introduced to the water therapy called Hydro Track where the water is heated to a perfect temperature. The water treadmill and two water jets that give resistance are extremely comforting as I’m walking. It is truly a wonderful and satisfying experience. I’m able to walk for long periods of time with absolutely no pain. I haven’t been able to say that for years. After my appointments, even days later, I still felt the benefits of the water therapy. I could feel improvement in all the major areas that I needed it like my legs with peripheral arteries completely clogged, joints in both knees, right hip, and cardiovascular problems. I feel I am able to get around a lot easier and think for the first time in years, I might be able to go the University of Michigan football games next season!
